Thursday 17th April 2008 - For Directors Guild and BAFTA members and their guests

A special celebration of Sir David Lean's Centenary Year

Afternoon - Sir Alan Parker unveils a Directors Guild Trust Blue Plaque at David Lean's birthplace, 38 Bleinheim Crescent, Croydon. Three generations of David Lean's family attending, with Lean Foundation Trustee Anthony Reeves and actors Art Malik and James Fox OBE.

Evening  - hosted  by BAFTA,  a champagne reception,  and a private screening of the BFI's newly restored print of The Passionate Friends (1949), preceded by a video tribute from editor Ane V. Coates from BAFTA/LA and live tributes from Lean actors James Fox OBE, Saeed Jaffrey OBE, Art Mailk, Sarah Miles, Leslie Phillips CBE, Prunella Scales CBE and Rita Tushingham, hosted by producer of the day's events Shevaun Wilder. The fillm was then followed by live extracts from the West End production of Brief Encounter.
