This years Directors Masterclass was given by Canadian Director, Atom Egoyan (Adoration, Exotica, The Sweet Hereafter). Attended by DGGB professional members and LFF delegates on Sunday 19th October at the BFI Southbank and moderated by Jonathan Romney (Film Critic Independent on Sunday, Author of the book Atom Egoyan BFI Directors Series and short film Director). Atom Egoyan spoke openly and in depth about his directing experiences, sharing his casting and rehearsal techniques. Clips from seven of Egoyan’s films were shown and discussed in detail, providing insights into the ways in which he writes and directs his own feature films, as well as the interpretation of novels that he has successfully adapted to critical acclaim; revealing the observational skills and sensitivity required as a Director.
On Tuesday 28th October the LFF hosted the annual DGGB party which was attended and well received by professional members, LFF delegates and invited guests. Once again, a great turnout and a chance to meet and talk with colleagues and industry friends.
A very big thank you to Atom Egoyan for providing his time and knowledge on Directing, and to the London Film Festival Industry Events Team for all their help and support in getting these two events off the ground.
