Director Guild Workshop - TERRY BESSON - VOICEWORK FOR DIRECTORS - Sunday 15th August 2010
10 am - 1pm & 2 - 3.45 pm
Shaw Theatre, London NW1

How do you tease a good vocal performance from your performers? How can you help them protect their voices against the ravages of long runs or location shoots? How can you help them improve performances on and off mic?

Voice coach and teacher Terry Besson ( Awaydays, Nickelodeon, Band of Brothers, Stones in his Pocket ) spills techniques, tips and tricks that few directors know.

•    Help create and sustain great vocal performances
•    Accents & dialects
•    Vocal transformations
•    Basic techniques for warm-ups
•    Directors’ resources

THE DAY

During the morning session (10.00 – 1 pm) Terry will look at voice basics and what a director needs to know, with some practical work. In the afternoon (2 – 3.45 pm) - accents and dialects, vocal transformation and resources.

Terry Besson has worked with, amongst many others, Dustin Hoffman, Andy Serkis, Jason Isaacs, Damian Lewis, Cathy Tyson, Heath Ledger, Fiona Shaw and Sheila Hancock. He’s a regular teacher at the Actors’ Centre and there are very few leading UK drama schools he hasn’t taught at.
